Job Purpose

The Personal Care Regulatory Affairs Assistant provides regulatory expertise and assessments to R&D leaders and business partners within the Personal Care (PC) India Global Design Centre (GDC). This role contributes to innovation growth, ensures compliance, and supports Unilever’s ambition to deliver safe, high-quality, and consumer-loved products.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Deliver regulatory assessments and provide guidance throughout the innovation process.
  • Coordinate and summarize global regulatory input for PC GDC-led projects.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs leads, Safety & Environmental teams, Quality, Legal, Communications, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct formulation reviews and regulatory assessments using RA digital tools.
  • Review and support claims development, ensuring innovation claims remain within regulatory boundaries.
  • Monitor competitor claims and provide insights to strengthen Unilever innovations.
  • Provide regulatory clearance for clinical, consumer, home-use test (HUT), and sensory studies.
  • Track issues, trends, and regulatory updates impacting PC India GDC and recommend action strategies.
  • Support digital tool development and rollout within R&D.
  • Maintain updated records of PC India GDC innovation programs.

Educational Qualification

Education:

  • Minimum BSc in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biological Science, Toxicology, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years in FMCG, with expertise in regulatory requirements for personal care and cosmetics (preferred) or drug industry (secondary).
  • Experience in product development or Regulatory Affairs.
  • Cosmetic regulatory experience, especially in Oral Care, Skin Cleansing, and Deodorants.
  • Knowledge of Indian regulatory requirements and familiarity with Europe/ASEAN mandatory.
  • Advantage: Experience with regulatory processes for China, LATAM, and Middle East.

Skills:

  • Strong technical communication and ability to simplify complex regulatory topics.
  • Digital tool proficiency (MS Office Suite, PLM, Innoflex, etc.).
  • Logical thinker with ability to identify patterns and propose innovative solutions.
  • Collaboration and agility to manage cross-functional and third-party interactions.
  • Ability to prioritize, respond to feedback, and maintain attention to detail.
