As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in Oncology, you will serve as a vital scientific and medical resource, building trusted relationships with healthcare professionals and thought leaders. This non-promotional role focuses on providing fair, balanced, and evidence-based scientific information across AbbVie’s oncology portfolio while supporting scientific engagement, research initiatives, and medical affairs strategy.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Execute against the Medical Affairs plan for India, ensuring alignment with therapeutic priorities.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key opinion leaders, academic centers, and researchers in oncology.
  • Provide scientific education and training initiatives across AbbVie’s oncology portfolio.
  • Plan and lead scientific communications, including advisory board meetings, round table sessions, and investigator engagement.
  • Serve as an internal medical and scientific resource for disease-state and product communications.
  • Facilitate clinical trial support, including investigator site engagement and research collaborations.
  • Deliver balanced, compliant scientific presentations to healthcare professionals.
  • Support pharmacovigilance, HEOR, and global medical office functions locally.
  • Conduct ongoing training sessions for medical affairs, commercial teams, and internal staff.
  • Accurately document activities and ensure compliance with AbbVie’s ethics, regulatory, and operational standards.
  • Manage medical affairs budgets and ensure expense accountability.
  • Spend approximately 60% of time in the field, engaging with external stakeholders.

Educational Qualification

Education:

  • MBBS or MD required.

Experience:

  • 2–3 years of post-qualification work experience in a medical affairs function.
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry or clinical research (preferred).
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a matrix structure with multiple stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong ability to critically evaluate and communicate clinical data.
    • Excellent scientific presentation and teaching skills.
    • Ability to convey complex scientific and non-scientific information to audiences with varying expertise.
    • Proven relationship-building, leadership, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related digital tools.
